After the holidays, Humphrey is shocked by a big surprise in Room 26—a new class pet! Humphrey tries to be welcoming, but Og the frog doesn’t seem to want to be friends. During class and the weekends at students’ houses, Humphrey helps to resolve friendship problems between his classmates and learns that friendship can be tricky, but if any hamster can become buddies with a frog, it’s Humphrey!

Make Paper Snowflakes
In Chapters 13 and 14, there is a snowstorm! Fold and cut paper snowflakes and hang them in your home. Pretend there is a winter storm outside. How can your family stay cozy inside as you read together?

Design your own cover. Drop it off with Ms. Peters at the library for her to display.
Nickname
Humphrey has a nickname for all the students in Room 26. Make up a nickname for everyone in your family!
